Dear Father Jorge

In January, I along with my brother bishops of the Holy Land Coordination visited your parishioners and the sisters of the Holy Family parish in Gaza to celebrate Mass and to be present with the people of Gaza. All of us who went to Gaza will never forget the Christian hospitality that we experienced. Today we look on in sadness and horror as you endure another day of bombing and violence. The courageous and generous witness to the Gospel that your community is giving is an inspiration. I pray for you and for all those who are being sheltered, especially the children and elderly.

Please be assured that our prayers are with you and all the people of Gaza during these terrible weeks and that we will continue to support you practically as you seek to help those wounded and made homeless by the horror inflicted on you.

In Christ and with my warm best wishes.

Yours sincerely,

Rt Rev Declan Lang
Bishop of Clifton
Chair of the Bishops’ Conference Department for International Affairs
